SN-920 Ultra Feature List
EnGenius
Technologies, maker of the most powerful cordless phones that can
legally be used in the United States and Canada, has introduced
its second generation SN920 "Ultra" phone, with more
power, more features and smaller size than the
first generation SN900.
- Range
can be over eight miles in
open terrain and 12 floors
within a building (independent testing lab).
- Range
in a typical suburban environment is usually
2 miles or more (Independent test).
- The
standard phone package (SN920-1) is a 3-piece
system. You get a base that plugs
into an electrical outlet and a phone jack,
plus a portable handset, and a charger
stand for the handset.
|
|
- The charger
stand can go almost anywhere, because it needs just
electrical power, but no phone jack. You can put it
in a room or a building with no phone wiring! It
takes up as much space as a coffee mug on your desk.
- Up to 36
handsets can be used with up to 4
base units.
- Optional external
antenna provides maximum range.
- Handsets can communicate with
each other privately, independent of base and phone
line. When used as two-way radios, operation is
"full-duplex" like a phone -- no need to
push a button to talk.
- Phone calls can be transferred
from one handset to another.
- Each handset comes with one
NiMH battery pack. You can order another if you
want. One charger stand can charge a battery inside
a phone, plus a separate battery. You can change
batteries while a call is on hold. Power
Management feature regulates output power to save
batteries when maximum range is not needed.
- Talk time is
up to 3 hours, and recharging time just 80 minutes.
Standby time is up to 40 hours.
- The use of multiple base units
can permit a group of handsets to be used in a large
area, and allows multiple lines to be shared by a
group of phones.
- Bases can be connected directly
to phone company dial tone, or to any phone system
that can accept single-line analog phones.
- If bases are connected to a PBX
or "hybrid" phone system, users can dial 9
to get any line available.
- Norstar phone systems allow you
to select specific lines from an EnGenius handset,
and to retrieve calls put on hold by a Norstar
phone.
- Radio
transmission is Digital Spread Spectrum/Frequency
Hopping, with frequency changing 200 times per
second for extremely high security against
eavesdropping.
- Four lines of text and graphics
are shown on illuminated handset display.
- Phone has Caller
ID with Call Waiting. Log shows last 30
calls received. Note: Caller ID does not work
if using on a Norstar System.
- Graphical signal strength
indicator on display, with audible warning when
you're about to leave communications range.
- Each handset comes with a small
antenna for convenience, and a long antenna for
maximum range.
- Hearing Aid
compatible
- 30-Name/Number speed dialing
- 6-Level voice volume control
- Four different ringing sounds
with three different volume levels, plus silent
vibration alert.
- Handset weighs just 8.8 ounces
with battery
- Approved for
both US and Canada
- One
comparison test in a hostile environment indicated a
range of over 1700 feet.
