DESCRIPTION : On the Nortel Business Communications Manager (Nortel BCM), you may notice the green lights of the front panel are blinking and you cannot connect to the BCM via the web interface. Callpilot is also inaccessible and there is an alarm on the main phone.  Rebooting the system sometimes work and everything is returned to normal.  The BCM will work for a few weeks, eventually leading to a full failure of the BFT in weeks or months. The BCM cannot be rebooted.

First thing would be to check the "base function tray".  Nortel bulletin 2005006052.  See if the part number of the system matches these:

Also, check the BFT for leaking, bulging on the top, green capacitors.  If you see any of these signs, contact us.  You have a bad base function tray, BFT. We can replace the defective caps on your BFT.  The cost for us to repair your BFT is $400.00 plus shipping.

NOTE: We cannot repair BFT if the motherboard is damaged, or missing components.
Please note that 96% of the Nortel BCM bootup failures are due to the BFT. Some failures may also be due to the BCM hard drive, and not the BFT.
